July 20th 1977 and the sex Pistols van rolls up outside a small, unassuming, faceless club probably somewhere in Sweden. The resulting tape of the show is ok, its listenable a "five" at best and is usually noteable for its frontman apearing to be the bastard spawn of a Micky Mouse, Pinky and perky threesome.
Were it not for the recent and rather quite excellent Mathiesen/Nordskog offering "exiled to Oslo" this is how a lot of us (including me) woulf probably sum up this date on the tour.
Thankully the book exists, Trygv's generous, I'm a blagger and Ingar Kjostolfsen (The Taper) is a 'mate of a mate' of Trygve (in the best bootleg tradition)
There's nothing I can tell you about this show that Trygve and Harry haven't already covered, suffice to say that with Sparks at the controls and a digital copy of the taper's cassette in his possession courtesy of Mr. Mathlesen, This is Pingvin at its sonic best and a brief but blistering "Norway v Engalnd" clash that I think (although ending in a draw) is one hell of a game.
Rotton Vicious, Cook, Jones, Norsmen Beer....what more could you want?
