PiL Live at Red Rocks, cassette. (Thanks Mick & Ebay US).
I did not intend to add this cassette to the site until I had a little more information about it. However I have been unable to locate any, so I shall just add it.
I bought this tape about 5 months ago from Ebay US. It was part of a lot that also featured Waterboys and Skunk Anansie live tapes. The only information was that the gig was recorded live at Red Rocks (no year or anything else!) The bidding was low and it seemed a great opportunity to get a new PiL gig, so I made sure I won the auction.
Upon first listen to the tape it was obvious from the setlist that it dates from 1987. However, Red Rocks is not listed in my 1987 US tour itinerary book, so it could be that the venue is mis-labeled. There are no other clues as to the background of the gig. (Does anyone have any information???)
It sounds like an outdoor performance, so it was probably a festival appearance. PiL play well, although the sound quality is a bit flat with almost no bass.
It appears to be a heavily edited setlist, which again suggests a festival slot.
Lydon doesn't say very much throughout, but does complain about the heat: "Have you got any idea how fucking hot it is up on this stage? We need beer!"
Again, if anyone has any solid information about this tape or gig please let us know.
