Pasadena, CA, The Convention Centre - 7.11.1982. (Thanks Mick & Pete)
This was the first of two nights at the Convention Centre in Pasadena. From the beginning of the intro of Blue Water you know this is going to be a good one. The quality is fantastic and the band sound incredible. Levene's guitar seers through the air like an axe!
Annalisa sounds fucking incredible! This is one gig I would give anything to have been at. I personally believe this was a peak time for Lydon and PiL. Just a pity they never toured the UK or Europe.
This show was released on a bootleg LP called Force. This version is from the original master cassette however.
My copy from the Force LP features no record jumps as such, but there are occassional crackles and pops (no snaps though!) from the vinyl but this is only really noticeable between songs when there's relative silence.
The bootleg LP version does unfortunately have fade outs between songs, the master cassette is relatively intact though, save for a few tape cuts.
Lydon makes a mistake on Bad Baby, accidentally singing the first line of Mad Max instead.
Worth noting is that this show doesn't seem quite as hostile as some of the others from the tour. In fact it's quite a happy affair at times and Lydon seems in a jolly mood throughout, despite having had all his beer nicked, which he constantly bemoans.
Public image is a sensational version, as is Low Life. An alround perfect gig and bootleg!
There is a cut between Public image and Low Life.
