New York City, The Beacon Theatre - 18.11.1987.  (Thanks Mick & Tony)

A very poor performance at times which gives the impression that PiL were there physically but not really in spirit. Lydon at least makes an apology for his own performance throughout the show, explaining that he has the flu, but I wonder what the band's excuse was. Dias sounds like he's just picked up a bass for the first time that very morning and Smith's drumming is sub standard to say the least. John McGeoch holds things together, but only just. That's not to say that he's without blame himself, as at times his playing is merely poor background music.

Rise is a joke to begin with. Smith misses the beat several times and McGeoch hits bum notes more than once. Four Enclosed Walls sounds terrible, though I've never been keen on this lineups version anyway.

FFF is the biggest shambles of the night. Lydon completely fucks up the lyrics on practically every verse and the band don't seem to know what's happening so keep going in circles. McGeoch tries to neautralise the humiliation by adding some fancy guitar licks which are the songs only redeeming feature. This seriously has to be heard to be believed.

Open & Revolving is another disaster as Lydon can't cope with the high notes and his voice cracks all over the place. McGeoch's playing is very poor on this one too. Again the band keep going in circles because Lydon doesn't come in on the verses half the time. He eventually has to ask for a brandy for his throat in the end and tells the audience that some participation would help.

The band slowly pull themselves together and pull off a storming World Destruction. Fantastic versions of Angry & The Body follow. Holidays in the Sun has been edited out as is clear when we hear the last few bars of the song before Not a Love Song, which is why this recording is listed as incomplete.
