Boston, MA, The Orpheum Theatre - 18.4.1980. (Thanks Mick & Nicola)
This show is significant because it is PiL's first ever American show. PiL would not play outside of North America and Canada for the next 3 years, by which time they were a very different band.
The quality is about average for a 1980 bootleg. A bit muddy and distorted, not helped by the levels of Wobble's bass and it's a bit distant too. Nonetheless it is still a fantastic performance, the only let down being that it's been cut to shreds which strongly detracts from this tapes appeal. Very frustrating that such an important show was bootlegged by such an inadequate bootlegger.
The bootlegs from the American tour sound so raw and only make one wonder how great things could have been if PiL had gigged more within the two previous years. The number of performances up until the American tour was shocking for a band of PiL's status and quality.
The beginning of most songs are missing and there are unfortunately cuts between all songs. I don't think anything is actually missing though apart from the first few seconds of each song and that the bootlegger probably just wanted to save tape between songs.
There are cuts between ALL songs.Fingers crossed that one day a different sourced version will turn up!
