London, UK, Hammersmith Palais - 22.11.1983. (Thanks Mick & Richard)
This bootleg opens with the crowd chanting "Johhny is a wanker, Johnny is a wanker - Na na na na!" to which Lydon replies "Beg your fucking pardon?" then it's straight into Public image.
"You slightly make the northerners look tame!" announces Lydon before a thrashing version of Low Life, only dissipated by the horrible sharp bass guitar sound.
I am actually unsure about whether this is an audience recording or a soundboard. The crowd seem a bit too quiet to be an audience recording, so it probably comes straight from the mixing desk. Then again Lydon does comment: "My god, you bastards are quiet!" so who knows?
What I have never understood is why Lydon always quotes Lord Tennyson's "Come into the garden Maud" at the beginning of Attack. Does anyone know the connection?
There is a cut between Solitaire and Flowers of Romance.
