Turku, Finland, Ruisrock '87 - 1.8.1987. (Thanks Mick).
Note: The location of this gig is often mis-spelled as Turka!
This is another recording that had a terrible amount of tape hiss, no doubt from the transfer tape that was not removed by the bloke who did the transfer. I have since removed all of the hiss, which makes a huge difference to this gig and offers a much more pleasant listening experience.
For some reason the gig also came split across two CDR's, despite only clocking in at an hour. I have since mastered the de-hissed version (with a tiny amount of bass reduction also!) onto a single CDR.
The gig itself, Finland's biggest rock festival, is fantastic! Obviously recorded with a good microphone, all of the instruments and Lydon can be heard clearly as can the audience! The band perform well, although Open & Revolving sounds like a complete shambles, Lydon even tells the band; "It's fucking rubbish, let's do another!" and the song is quickly dispatched with. (A must hear!)
The chaos continues as the electricity cuts during Hard Times, leaving Lydon asking who's turned the power off, although no one in charge seems to even notice what's happened! After a few minutes of confusion Lydon has to ask; "Does anyone speak English here? We've lost our power!" The crowd at least seem to find the situation amusing! Roughly 5 minutes later normal operations are resumed and Hard Times is resumed from the top! (As they say in show business!)
After World Destruction McGeoch lets rip at the crowd telling them; "The next bastard who throws anything at me, I'm going to personally fucking kill you! You're so fucking brave!"
Excellent versions of Round, FFF, and Public image have to be show high lights!
There is a cut between FFF and Annalisa.
