New York City, The Palladium - 20.4.1980. (Thanks Mick & Del).
PiL's first ever gig at this prestigious New York venue.
The recording that I am reviewing here is one which is culled from two different incomplete sources to give a complete version of the gig. There are other versions of this gig around, which I will be providing details and artwork for at a future time.
Surprisingly shouts for God Save the Queen, et all are outnumbered by shouts for Poptones, Memories and Swan Lake.
This is probably my favourite bootleg from this tour. The interaction between Lydon and the audience reaches new heights, culminating in several sing along versions where audience members take over the role of rock star. Indeed Lydon even assembles a choir (his own words!) on stage for a second version of Poptones.
The set is closed with only 50% of the lineup present with a Bad Baby instrumental (for more details see Jah Wobble's Memoirs of a Geezer!)
There is a transition between Annalisa and Attack.
There is a transition between Attack and Low Life.
There is a cut between Poptones singalong and Bad Baby instrumental.
