San Francisco, CA, Fort Mason Centre, Pier 2 - 19.10.1984. (Thanks Mick & Del)
A slightly distant recording, very much like the San Diego bootleg from 17.11.84, although thankfully this one plays at the correct speed.
As much as I dislike this lineup and period in PiL history I must admit that their version of Poptones is truly fantastic and is easily the highlight of the show. Just a pity they didn't play it more often.
Bad Life sounds great, although comes nowhere near to equalling the amazing single version. Apart from that I find it to be a pretty patchy setlist that combines horrible version of good Commercial Zone era tracks like Where are you? and Solitaire with older classics like Chant, Annalisa and Flowers of Romance. Flowers sounds ok, but the rest just don't cut it for me. Awful versions of great songs...
I know a lot of fans out there really like this lineup and I also know that it's untrendy to admit to liking the "Cabaret Band" more than any other PiL lineup, (and believe me I've taken my slaggings for it like a trooper) but I cannot pretend to. I mostly like the album (This is What you Want...) but I just think the live band were a bit shite.
Interestingly there is no performance of Anarchy tonight. Or else it's just missing from the recording.
The beginning of Annalisa is missing.
There is a cut between Tie me and Annalisa.
