Chicago, IL, Victoria Theatre - 11.3.1988
Slightly distant and fuzzy audience recording. The crowd reactions are pretty reserved and you know instantly that PiL are not playing to their own audience, which is unfortunate because they really put on a good performance. (They were supporting INXS!)
The main problem with my original cassette copy of this bootleg was tape hiss, although I recently made a high end digital transfer and removed a lot of the offending hiss.
This gig took place almost half way through their support slot on INXS's Kick tour, although to my knowledge it's only the second bootleg to surface from the tour, which is a real pity as the band really put their all into the heavily abbreviated setlist. They must have given INXS a good run for their money.
There must be a lower generation tape out there somewhere, which would do much more justice to the fine performance.
This gig is often mis-labelled as Victoria Pavillion and even UIC Pavillion, which itself is a mis-spelling of Vic Pavillion, which is the local name for the theatre! (Thanks Wikipedia!)
There's a cut between Open & Revolving and Holidays in the Sun.
